The Model 6000 Stencil & Pallet Cleaner is the “work horse” of the Smart Sonic line of ultrasonic stencil cleaners. The Model 6000 is fully automatic and programmable. The operator simply places the stencil in the carrier basket and selects the desired cleaning profile. A 29″ (740 mm) stencil can be washed and rinsed in less than 2 minutes! The Model 6000 is a modular design and it can be used with other applications such as post solder flux from pallets, oven radiators and/or SMD adhesives. The Model 6000 is recommended for users requiring rapid cycle time for cleaning more than 20 stencils per day, automatic drying, or for cleaning multiple applications in the same machine.

The Most Advanced Ultrasonic Stencil Cleaning System!
The Model 6000 is designed for the SMT assembler requiring high quality, full automation, EPA compliance, flexibility and guaranteed performance. The Model 6000 enhances the technology of its predecessor, the Model 5000 in several ways. The overall profile is shorter to facilitate easy loading and unloading at a height of only 39-inches (99 cm). The wash tank capacity is only 34-gallons which reduces wastewater and chemistry consumption by 40%, while increasing ultrasonic cleaning efficiency by 40%. The modular tank design allows the purchase of the standard Model 6000 for cleaning a single application such as stencils. Or, configure the machine for cleaning multiple applications for cleaning such items as pallets, oven radiators, SMT adhesives, etc. The ultrasonic tank could also be used for ultrasonic rinsing of misprinted populated PCB’s.
The Model 6000 comes standard with a built-in drying rack to allow stencils to dry naturally without dripping water in the work area. While it is recommended that stencils dry naturally to conserve energy and prevent potential heat-induced damage, the Model 6000 is also available with an optional low-pressure Dry Air Gun to expedite drying stencils and other items.
Operation of the Model 6000 could not be easier. The operator simply places the stencil in the carrier basket and selects one of the preprogrammed cleaning profiles on the touch-screen controller. The stencil is automatically carried throughout the individual cleaning steps. The wash cycle for cleaning solder paste is usually only one or two minutes. The stencil is then indexed to the rinse tank where low-pressure water sprays rinse the stencil (5-10 seconds is all that is required). The stencil then waits over the rinse tank until the operator presses the load/unload button to return the stencil to the original position. When using the optional low-pressure dry air gun to expedite drying, a 29-inch stencil can be washed, rinsed and dried in approximately 4 minutes! There is no faster or safer way to clean a stencil.
For multiple cleaning applications, the process engineer can program and custom label several profiles into the touch-screen controller. Users then simply select the appropriate cleaning profile for their application and cleaning is performed automatically.
Stencil Cleaner Maintenance and Operation
Maintenance of the Model 6000 is also very easy. When cleaning solder paste, the 440-R SMT Detergent wash solution is drained only once every two weeks to the optional wastewater evaporator or customer’s waste treatment facility. The waste solder paste is “flushed” out and contained in a gravity trap where it is easily removed for recycling or disposal. Fresh wash solution is then added to the wash tank and the system is ready for another two-week cycle. The maintenance procedure can be accomplished by the touch of one button with the purchase of the Automatic Fill option. When using an optional wastewater evaporator, there is no liquid hazardous waste disposal and no filters because nothing is discharged to drain.
Smart Sonic provides a complete turnkey solution for Stencil Cleaning. While other companies only provide one phase of the stencil cleaning process, Smart Sonic ensures that you will achieve effective ultrasonic cleaning with a powerful, but environmentally safe detergent to clean all solder pastes.
Ultrasonic Stencil Cleaning
Smart Sonic offers a wide array of ultrasonic equipment, from fully automatic stencil cleaners to semi-automatic stencil cleaners.
Smart Sonic Stencil Cleaners are able to clean any type of solder paste from any fine pitch stencil, at the same time its low power density is safe for cleaning misprinted PCBs and pallets. Its low-temperature cleaning conserves energy and protects stencils from heat distortion and adhesive failure.
All Smart Sonics Stencil Cleaners are able to communicate with an EnviroGuard System or a Smart Sonic Evaporator. This provides for a more automated and environmentally friendly Closed-loop Stencil Cleaning System.
SMT Detergent
Smart Sonic’s 440-R SMT Detergent is the workhorse of the Smart Sonic Process. 440-R is an effective chemistry for cleaning all types of solder paste.
More importantly, 440-R does not contain any Volatile Organic Compounds (Zero-VOC), which means that Smart Sonic is able to treat the wastewater through evaporation or through resin filters.
Other SMT detergents contain volatile compounds which are hazardous to evaporate or require more complex wastewater filtration.
Water Treatment
Smart Sonic provides two methods for treating SMT wastewater. Our most popular method is with the Model EZ-0 and the Model SE-1 evaporators. Wastewater is heated and evaporated through an exhaust duct. After the water is evaporated, you can easily dispose of the remaining solids.
Smart Sonic offers wastewater treatment through carbon and resin filters with our EnvrioGuard System. Our filter will catch any solder paste or harmful chemicals, and it can provide an additional source for Deionized (DI) water. This method is more popular where our clients don’t have a suitable means to exhaust vapor for an evaporator or have limited access to DI water.
